Meghan’s area of expertise is assisting clients in understanding and maintaining healthcare data. She works with health plans and state Medicaid agencies to effectively manage, organize, and warehouse health claims data.
Meghan implements and manages healthcare data warehousing systems, including Milliman’s MedInsight data warehouse. Meghan assists her clients with a variety of data analytic projects, including studies of provider efficiency, provider contracting, and provider quality. Meghan has extensive experience working with NCQA HEDIS and AHRQ performance measures. She has experience working with a variety of data sources, including health plan data, state MMIS data, managed care encounter data, Medicare MDS data, and Medicare cost reports.
Prior to joining Milliman, Meghan spent five years at Navigant Consulting, Inc., working with a variety of healthcare payers and providers. As a managing consultant, she assisted clients with projects ranging from Medicaid managed care monitoring to provider reimbursement issues and payment error rates. For example, Meghan assisted a state with a multi-year study of the completeness, timeliness, and accuracy of its managed care encounter data. She also assisted two states with all phases of their CMS payment error rate measurement studies.
In December 2016, Meghan facilitated a presentation to the Health Plan Alliance discussing the use of analytics to assess six categories of waste.
In 2015, Meghan presented at the Health Plan Alliance Informatics conference on “Shifting to Value Based Models,” “Medicaid Expansion,” and “Care and Quality Management.”
In 2006, Meghan presented at a Health Information and Management Systems Society conference on the topic “Evaluating and Monitoring Evidence-based Medicine with Claims Data.”
Meghan presented at the 2004 National Association of SURS Officials Conference in North Dakota on a consultant’s perspective and lessons learned in assisting states with the pilot CMS payment error rate measurement study.
In 2004, Meghan presented to a division of the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare on how to efficiently organize and analyze NCQA health plan performance results.
