Current Responsibility

Kathi is a principal and consulting actuary with the Seattle office of Milliman. She joined the firm in 1995.

Kathi is a leader in research and analysis of veteran data. Using the Veterans Administration's experience data, she has worked extensively to quantify the ways that the veteran population differs from the average population-in demographics, morbidity, healthcare choices, and behavior and location-and the way these differences influence the utilization, delivery, and costs of their healthcare.

Kathi has expertise in a wide range of health-related programs. She has advised clients regarding commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, VA, USFHP, and other government program medical benefits. She assists clients with benefit design, pricing, healthcare cost projections, rate filings, reserve adequacy analysis, and experience analysis. Her clients have included insurance companies, hospitals, Blue Cross/Blue Shield organizations, governments, physician groups, and HMOs.

Kathi is proficient with taking large data sets and using them to help clients answer questions about their particular issues. Some of her other work includes:

  • Medicaid cost analysis, risk sharing models, and cost models for providers and states
  • Disease incidence models
  • Evidence of value models
  • Risk adjuster analysis and development
  • Provider contract/reimbursement analysis
  • Home health disease incidence analysis
  • Cost models for diverse needs
  • Global capitation analysis
  • Resource planning models
  • Risk sharing models
