Hospital Efficiency Index

The Hospital Inpatient Profiler (HIP) uses a highly refined statistical process to develop best practice benchmarks for acute inpatient hospital services. The HIP best practice benchmarks reflect actual hospital practice and not a hypothetical or "ideal" scenario. Actual hospital data for admissions and length of stay is compared on a severity adjusted basis to the benchmarks and variances are reported as potentially avoidable hospital admissions and potentially avoidable hospital days.
