Milliman knows Part D issues inside and out
Have you done your homework on Medicare Part D and how it will affect you, your Medicare-eligible retirees, and your health benefit plan?
Medicare Part D impacts those who cover Medicare-eligible active employees and retirees under their health benefits plans. The program, a result of the Medicare Modernization Act of 2003, encourages employers/plan sponsors to continue offering their prescription drug coverage at a lower cost. Plan sponsors who provide drug coverage for retirees may be eligible to receive a federal tax-free subsidy as a reimbursement for a share of their costs, as one of several cost-reducing options under Part D.
Understanding your responsibilities and options will allow you to meet your mandated responsibilities as well as thoroughly evaluate the options available.
Milliman actuaries and consultants know how to navigate the intricacies of Medicare Part D and are recognized leaders in this practice area, offering the following services:
- review of your current retiree prescription drug plan;
- creditable coverage testing;
- actuarial retiree drug subsidy (RDS) attestation (actuarial equivalence testing);
- evaluation of alternatives to the RDS;
- assessment of all options in light of your present and future goals; and
- implementation of a communications strategy.
