The International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) has identified a prospective, principles-based valuation approach called "current exit value" as its preferred model for measuring the rights and obligations arising from insurance contracts. This report provides a summary of the accounting model, highlights important implications, and identifies issues that remain open.
