Job description

The successful candidate will provide programming support for the Seattle and Oakland Employee Benefits Consulting Practices. The job is based in downtown Seattle. We develop client-and-participant-facing websites as well as internal systems.

IT certifications and study that enhance the employee’s ability to develop our systems are encouraged and rewarded. We pay for study materials for approved programs and for exam fees for passed exams.

The Visual Basic Programmer will provide computer programming, processing, and database manipulation support.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and develop actuarial and benefits administration applications using VB6, VB.NET and Crystal Reports. Create both Windows and web interfaces that link multiple data sources and interface with payroll, bank, and other systems.
  • Customize existing applications (VB.NET, VB6, Crystal Reports) for individual client needs.
  • Data manipulation using SQL Server.
  • Create and update reports using Crystal Reports (multiple versions).
  • Additional projects will be assigned as needed.

Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Math or related area of study.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Ability to interact well with all levels of staff from clerks to senior management.
  • Must be detail-oriented and have demonstrable experience documenting work.
  • Prefer experience with VB6, VB.NET, Crystal Reports, HTML, SQL, Javascript, and Microsoft® Excel.
  • Employee Benefits experience is preferred.

There is additional compensation for carrying the after-hours pager.
