Current responsibility
Experience
Michael's experience is primarily in the life assurance field. He has been involved in a wide range of life consulting assignments with a diverse range of clients from Ireland, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Continental Europe, and currently discharges the statutory role of Appointed Actuary for a number of life assurance companies based in Ireland. In addition to his life assurance work, Michael is also the Signing Actuary for a non-life insurer. In the pensions field, Michael was the lead author of a report for the Irish Pensions Board on assessing alternative systems of pension provision and has written a number of other high-profile reports on aspects of the Irish pension landscape.
Michael is actively involved in industry and professional working parties and has presented papers on a range of topics. He currently sits on the Solvency II Committee of the Society of Actuaries in Ireland and is the Society’s representative on a number of Solvency II groups at both Irish and international level. He previously served for many years on the Society's Life and International Committees.
Michael was a director of Life Strategies from joining in 1998 to its acquisition by Milliman in 2009. Prior to that he worked for 10 years for New Ireland Assurance in a variety of actuarial roles.Education
