Michael has more than 20 years of life insurance experience gained in the Asia- Pacific and Europe. He formerly led the North Asian life insurance consulting practice of Watson Wyatt, with responsibility for business in Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam. He was promoted to the global management team of Watson Wyatt in 2009.

Michael has extensive knowledge of the Asia- Pacific region, having advised clients in all major insurance markets in the area since 1997 across a range of subject matter. His main areas of focus include mergers and acquisitions, strategy, product and distribution, and risk management.

He has led some of the largest and most complex consulting projects undertaken in the region, including managing the sell-side valuation work on AIG’s 13 Asian businesses excluding Japan and the Philippines during 2008 and 2009.

As the chief actuary of Muang Thai Life in Thailand, Michael gained personal experience in managing insurance businesses as well as acquiring technical expertise in pricing, valuation, financial reporting, systems and controls, and risk management.

He was selected by Fortis to be the chief of staff to the group CEO, working at the highest level across the insurance, retail banking, and commercial and merchant banking portfolios.

Michael previously established and ran the Actuarial & Insurance Management Solutions practice for PricewaterhouseCoopers in Scotland.
