Current responsibility
Neil is the head of European trading for Milliman’s Financial Risk Management Practice. Neil joined the firm in 2006.
Experience
Neil currently manages the daily capital markets activity for a number of clients with European exposures utilizing our hedge support services.
He executes risk re-balancing on a variety of variable annuity books for delta, rho, equity vega and interest rate vega exposures. This includes use of futures, forwards, interest rate swaps, equity variance swaps, equity/FX options and interest rate swaptions.
He is also responsible for production and review of periodic P&L, performance attribution and hedge commentary reports for European hedge programs.
Neil has also been actively involved in a wide range of client assignments for UK and European financial institutions. During his four years at Milliman, Neil has developed significant experience in:
- Implementation of dynamic hedge programs (valuation, capital markets, and reporting).
- Hedge design analysis for variable annuity products.
- Assessment of the profitability and capital requirements of guarantee products, using a variety of models (including nested stochastic investigations) and on a variety of reporting bases (including UK/Irish/US GAAPs and Solvency II).
- Establishing reserving, capital and profit recognition methodologies for guarantee products.
- Compilation of new product submissions for the Irish Financial Services Regulatory Authority.
- Market consistent pricing of guarantee products and their sensitivities.
Before Milliman
Neil has more than eight years experience in the insurance industry, becoming a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries in 2005.
Prior to joining Milliman, he spent time at Legal & General, where he managed the stochastic valuation of guaranteed annuity options on a variety of reporting bases. He also worked for the statutory valuation team, where he was responsible for setting company level statutory reserves.
