Current responsibility
Nigel is the leader of the risk and value management businesses for the Asia ex- Japan and Korea life insurance consulting business of Milliman, based in Hong Kong. Drawing on his 17 years of insurance experience gained in the industry and a successful career in investment banking, Nigel is regarded as a leading practitioner in risk management and financial reporting. His achievements include major financial reporting and risk management assignments as well as wider actuarial advice including mergers & acquisitions. He joined the firm in 2010.
Experience
Nigel has built a strong reputation in the industry as an expert in risk management and financial reporting.
As a consulting actuary in Asia, Nigel formerly led the consulting practice for Watson Wyatt in Hong Kong as well as developing the firm’s business throughout the region, giving advice on derivative transactions, market-consistent embedded values and stochastic modeling.
Nigel has investment banking experience gained from his role as a managing director in HSBC’s Global Markets business based in London, serving major multinational groups in structured derivative transactions.
In addition to his consulting experience, Nigel’s insurance experience includes a decade of direct life office experience, including leading and implementing the revised risk management and market consistent reporting framework for the multinational group Standard Life.
Nigel’s experience extends beyond financial reporting and risk management. He has advised on mergers and acquisitions transactions in both Europe and Asia.
