As a consultant since 1995, John has specialized in the area of demutualizations, reorganizations, and mergers and acquisitions in the life insurance arena, particularly those involving profit exposures. He has worked on most of the cases handled by Milliman over this period and has reported as independent actuary on several occasions.

Prior to entering consulting practice, John gained experience as appointed actuary and finance director at UK mutual and proprietary offices, gaining first-hand experience of demutualization and mergers and acquisitions.

Latterly, he was chief financial officer in Europe for a major US insurance corporation, with responsibility for actuarial and financial management for the company's life insurance and healthcare activities, which were being set up in various jurisdictions throughout continental Europe.
