Experience
John assists clients with a variety of actuarial projects, many focused on rating/underwriting, provider network analytics, and Medicare Advantage. In 2009, John testified before the U.S. House Ways and Means Committee regarding provider payment rates in the committee’s first hearing on health care reform.
Examples of solutions that John has delivered for clients include:
- Underwriting approaches and premium rate development for large group, small group, and individual business
- Experience analysis and reporting
- Provider contract benchmarking and comparison tools, enabling the identification of contract improvement opportunities
- Provider contract analysis tools, enabling the client to accurately evaluate the financial impacts of various contractual provisions
- Provider network unit cost reporting and projection, enabling the client to track contracting performance relative to a target, understand the impact of specific negotiations, and incorporate appropriate premium rate adjustments in a timely manner
- Medicare Advantage bid development and strategies
