Current responsibility

Tom is a principal and consulting actuary with the Chicago office of Milliman. He joined the firm in 1987.
 

Experience

Tom's practice is primarily associated with employee benefits and managed care. He has assisted various plan sponsors in welfare plan design, funding, issuing RFPs, evaluating vendor proposals, cost projections, trend and experience analysis, reserving, and postretirement liability estimates. His work on OPEB (other postemployment benefits) includes valuations for FASB 106/132, GASB 43 and 45, and SOP 92-6. Tom has assisted both plan sponsors and providers in evaluating managed care arrangements. His consulting with providers has included analysis of fee schedules, capitations, and risk sharing pools. Prior to joining Milliman, Tom had 15 years of experience with CNA, where he worked on group insurance product development, pricing, and employee benefits.
