Current responsibility
Nancy is a principal and consulting actuary with the Property and Casualty practice in the San Francisco office of Milliman. She manages a Casualty actuarial consulting practice in San Francisco. She joined the firm in 1997.
Experience
Nancy’s consulting engagements include personal lines pricing and product development, predictive modeling, use of catastrophe models in ratemaking, loss reserve analysis and certification, competitive rate analysis, due diligence reviews, litigation support, reinsurance risk transfer analysis, software development support and market analysis, reinsurance commutation support, mergers and acquisitions support, and expert witness testimony.
Her clients include domestic and international insurance and reinsurance companies, virtual insurance companies, insurance software developers, self-insured companies, managing general agencies, venture capitalists, governmental entities, and attorneys.
Nancy was president of Watkins Consulting Co. in Atlanta for six years. Prior to that, she was a senior manager and consulting actuary at Price Waterhouse. She also worked as an actuary for John Hancock Reinsurance and for Aetna Life & Casualty.
Affiliations
- Nancy has served as chair of the American Academy of Actuaries Committee on Property and Liability Financial Reporting, member of the Financial Reporting Council, and member of the Casualty Practice Council.
- She was co-chair of an American Academy of Actuaries working group on a white paper defining “best estimates.”
- Nancy has served as a member of the Casualty Actuarial Society Committee on Special Interest Seminars and the Casualty Actuarial Society Committee on Reinsurance Research.
- She has developed and taught courses on reinsurance and loss reserving.
