Steve's area of expertise is the retirement field, with particular emphasis on pension administration outsourcing services and actuarial services for large- and medium-sized corporate clients and Taft-Hartley plans.

Steve directs pension administration outsourcing services for single-employer retirement plans. He has managed the implementation of these services for several large clients, and is actively involved in defining procedures and system requirements for this work, both firm-wide and for the Seattle office.

Steve serves as the consulting actuary for several Taft-Hartley pension plans. Steve also assists clients with the design of defined benefit and defined contribution plans, negotiations on pension plan changes, the valuation of defined benefit plans, experience studies, asset/liability projection studies, and participant communications.

Steve's recent projects include:

• Working with Taft-Hartley plans with projections in response to Pension Protection Act requirements
• Directing the implementation of Pension Protection Act administrative requirements for single-employer plans
• Working with plan counsel in corrective administrative actions and an EPCRS filing for a new pension administration client
• Defining procedures and completing withdrawal liability calculations for multiemployer plans
