Current Responsibility

Matt Kranovich is a consulting actuary with the Chicago-Milwaukee health practice of Milliman. He joined the firm in 2012.

Experience

Matt has 15 years of experience as a healthcare actuary, including expertise in managed care, financial reporting, and Medicare Advantage and Part D programs. He supports clients with pricing, financial reporting, and other analyses for medical and prescription drug benefit plans, both in the Medicare and pharmacy markets.

In the Medicare market before joining Milliman, Matt spent seven years at Deloitte Consulting leading bid desk reviews of hundreds of Medicare bids on behalf of CMS. Since joining Milliman, he has assisted local Special Needs Plans, regional MCOs, and large national carriers in MA and Part D strategy and bid preparation, supporting clients in every phase from initial product strategy through bid finalization, desk review, and audit support. Matt has also performed modeling and analysis related to Star ratings and the CMS Out-Of-Pocket Costs model.

In the pharmacy market, Matt provides expertise to pharmaceutical manufacturers and policy organizations. Matt has also analyzed commercial and Medicare risk adjusters, assessing potential pros and cons of incorporating pharmacy data into those mechanisms.

Matt began his actuarial career at Health Care Service Corporation, where he spent four years working in financial reporting and managed care pricing roles. He then moved to Deloitte, where he managed CMS desk reviews and contributed actuarial expertise to GAAP and statutory audits of MCOs and supplemental health insurance carriers, before joining Milliman in 2012.

Matt has also presented on Medicare topics at several recent industry conferences, including the 2017 SOA Health Meeting and five MA-focused seminars hosted by HEA in 2015-2017.
