Current Responsibility

Therese is an actuary and benefits consultant with the Midwest Employee Benefits practice of Milliman with offices in Chicago, Minneapolis, and Omaha. She joined the firm in 2000.

Therese has over 25 years of experience in the actuarial field, including extensive experience with actuarial valuations of defined benefit and retiree medical plans, administration of defined benefit plans, plan terminations, communications, annual U.S. and international pension accounting (including settlement/curtailment accounting calculations), plan design, long-term forecasting of pension costs, and design and preparation of participant benefit statements. With regard to projection tools, Therese presents projection models to Taft-Hartley fund clients to evaluate issues on such items as a plan's funded status, minimum contribution requirements, and development of funding improvement plans. In the public sector, she completes GASB45 valuations for other post-retirement benefit plans.

Therese spent six years as an internal actuary for a Fortune 500 company that sponsored a hybrid defined benefit plan, a defined benefit plan for union employees, and a retiree healthcare plan for all retirees. She was not only involved with the actuarial valuations of these pension and retiree medical plans, but also worked with senior human resource managers on benefit plan design and administration. She worked with senior accounting/financial managers on the annual pension and health plan budgets, long-term projections of plan costs, and the impact of plan design and assumption changes on annual company results.
