2007 Pension Funding Study

For the first year in this millennium, pension-funded status during 2006 was a win-win situation. Despite new accounting rules that forced companies to reduce shareholder equity, strong funded status improvement and robust investment returns boosted fund assets at the same time that increases in interest rates moderated the growth of obligations.
