Data-driven insight. Deep expertise. Transformative innovation. Since 1947, Milliman has delivered intelligent solutions to improve health and financial security.
Darin Muse is an associate actuary in the Houston office of Milliman. He joined the firm in 2013.
Darin’s areas of expertise include commercial health insurance, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, and provider consulting.
At Milliman, Darin has played an integral role in developing and pricing health benefit exchange products and Medicare Advantage and Part D bids for submission to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. He has also assisted provider clients with member attribution, risk sharing settlements, and determining equitable funds flow methodologies.
Previously, after graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, he worked as a pricing actuary at a large insurance carrier. There, he gained significant experience in commercial health product development and pricing, regulatory rate filings, disease/case management programs, and in how to assess the early impacts of health insurance reform. In 2010 he began consulting at a regional actuarial consulting firm, where he gained valuable experience outside of the health insurance arena with life and annuity products, valuation, financial reporting, and acquisitions.
Darin also has experience at a multi-state Medicaid Managed Care Organization. His experience there included working closely with clinical staff to build and assess models of care around acute conditions and chronic diseases, and employing root-cause analysis techniques to isolate drivers of medical and pharmacy claims trends.
