Cancer patients receiving chemotherapy incur allowed costs nearly four times as high as those not receiving chemotherapy. The paper quantifies the medical service utilization and costs of chemotherapy patients, pinpoints unexplained variation in some utilization, and examines cost measures that present an opportunity for better quality and cost management.
