From cradle to grave: Evolution of a superannuation fund

The challenges facing superannuation providers will be substantial as large numbers of members begin to transition into retirement. The changing needs and behavior of retirees will necessitate new business models, services, and products.
While many funds recognize the need to act, the uncertainty created by constant tinkering with the superannuation system has resulted in hesitancy regarding the key strategic decisions that will determine whether funds are able to remain relevant as their membership undergoes a dramatic shift over the coming years.
This paper seeks to highlight some of the hurdles and opportunities facing the industry in becoming true cradle to grave service providers.
