Modernizing core rating and underwriting

Problem

A voluntary benefits carrier realized their home-grown rating software was no longer viable if they wished to remain competitive in the Group Accident & Health space. Today’s market needs and volume highlighted the platform’s inflexibilities and manual-intensive workarounds. Through an RFP bid, the carrier compared market options.

Solution

Milliman Connect’s Engage, Empower and Transform solutions were selected. We implemented a modern, cloud-based, end-to-end platform alongside our client. Empower is replete with completely customizable workbenches for Actuarial, Legal, Underwriting, and Sales. Engage was added to automate RFPs directly into Empower’s UW solution. The entire platform, using Transform, fully integrates with the client’s Doc Imaging repository, CRM (Salesforce), E-Sign service , Policy Admin system, and enrollment platforms.

Expected Impact

Our client will increase their quote capacity and decrease underwriting and bind turnaround times. The new platform provides real-time coordination between Legal / Compliance, Underwriting and Sales. These coordinations and integrations drive cost savings through significantly reduced manual effort. Client’s high satisfaction with Milliman Connect has resulted in new contracts for additional services.
